What is a Shutterstock case number?
A case number is a number that is given to you by Contributor Care or someone else at Shutterstock. It is not a random number that you make up.
When would I get a case number?
You would get a case number for a variety of reasons, such as you believe your content was wrongfully rejected and you wrote into Contributor Care who looked at the images and said, yup, the reviewer messed up, here’s a case number so it (hopefully) won’t happen again. Or perhaps you submitted credentials for a sporting event or needed to provide a vintage property release for an editorial image (you can’t submit a release with an editorial image). Other instances may be a compliance issue or you had opened another Shutterstock account and you want to transfer (resubmit) these images into the new account.
How to add a case number to your submission
- Upload the images to your contributor account, then go to Portfolio > Submit Content
- Click on the thumbnails of the images you wish to add the case number to and select Edit (pencil icon) on the righthand side
3. A window will pop open. Scroll down to the bottom until you see More options (as needed). Hit the down arrow to expand the box.
4. Paste in the case number and select Save at the top of the screen
You can then continue editing the description, keywords, and categories and either submit from here, or save and return to the image later. When returning to edit the image, those with a case number attached to them will be tagged with “Note”
And that’s it!
